EMDRAA Conference Code of Conduct

EMDRAA™ is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, productive, and welcoming environment for all conference participants, including attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, service providers, and EMDRAA™ staff.

All attendees are expected to engage in a professional, respectful, and responsible manner throughout the conference, including during sessions, social functions, and online participation.

Unacceptable behaviour includes (but is not limited to):

  • harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
  • verbal abuse or hostile behaviour toward any participant
  • discriminatory comments concerning gender, sexuality, disability, appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, or any other personal characteristic
  • threatening, stalking, or intimidating behaviour
  • disruption of presentations, sessions, or conference activities
  • inappropriate or sexualised imagery in public spaces or presentations
  • unauthorised promotional posts, solicitation, or advertising within conference sessions, online forums, or discussion channels, outside of approved sponsor and exhibitor activities
  • recording, copying, screenshots, or sharing of session content, Q&A, or virtual discussions

Complaints and Incident Support Process

If you feel unsafe, overwhelmed, or distressed at any time, or if you witness or experience behaviour that is inappropriate, discriminatory, or unprofessional, we encourage you to seek support immediately.

You can:

  • speak with a Conference Safe Person (identified by a teal lanyard)
  • speak with the Registration Desk or a member of EMDRAA™ staff, or
  • submit your concern in writing to ceo@emdraa.org.

All reports will be treated respectfully and confidentially. Depending on the nature of the concern, EMDRAA™ may provide wellbeing support, address the behaviour directly with the person responsible, and/or take further action as deemed necessary.

In serious circumstances, or where required for safety, venue security or emergency services may be involved.

Our focus is simple: to ensure people seeking mental health support have access to the highest quality EMDR therapy. We do this by setting professional standards, accrediting Practitioners, Consultants and Trainers, and supporting ongoing training and research.
