What to Expect

We look forward to welcoming you to the EMDRAA 2027 Conference at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. Below you’ll find some practical information to help you prepare for and make the most of your conference experience.

Conference Format

The EMDRAA 2027 Conference brings together a range of professional development, learning and networking opportunities across three days.

Thursday features the Consultants’ Day and Pre-Conference Workshops, which are held in person at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. These activities require separate registration.

The main conference takes place on Friday and Saturday and is delivered in a hybrid format, with attendees joining us in person in Melbourne and online.

Your registration confirmation will outline the activities you are registered to attend. Please check the conference program and website before the event for the latest information.

What to Bring

To help you make the most of your time at the conference, we recommend bringing:

  • a laptop, tablet or notebook for taking notes
  • a charger or portable power bank for your devices
  • a reusable water bottle
  • a light layer or jacket, as temperatures in conference rooms can vary
  • your registration confirmation, available electronically or printed
  • any personal items you may need to stay comfortable throughout the day

The conference program will be provided digitally, with a PDF version available prior to the conference. No printed program will be provided on-site.

The attendee app and conference website will also provide access to important conference information and updates. We recommend bringing a phone, tablet or other device so you can easily access these resources throughout the conference.

What to Wear

There is no formal dress code for the conference. Most attendees choose smart casual or business casual clothing.

We recommend dressing for comfort, particularly as conference days can be long. Melbourne weather in May can also be cool and changeable, so layers are a good idea when travelling to and from the venue.

Conference room temperatures can vary, so having an extra layer on hand may also make your day more comfortable.

Registration & Arrival

The Registration Desk will be your first point of contact when you arrive at the conference. Here you can collect your name badge and speak with the conference team if you have any questions during the event.

Registration Desk opening hours will be published in the conference program closer to the event.

Name Badges

Please wear your conference name badge throughout the event. Your badge will be required for entry to conference sessions and other registered activities.

Catering

All scheduled catering breaks will be served in the industry exhibition area, providing an opportunity to visit exhibitors and connect with other attendees.

A separate special dietary buffet will be available for attendees who have advised us of dietary requirements during registration.

Dietary Requirements

Please provide your dietary requirements when registering for the conference so these can be communicated to the venue in advance.

All catering is prepared and managed by the venue. If you have a severe allergy, specific dietary concern, or questions about ingredients or food preparation, please speak directly with a member of the venue catering staff before consuming any food.

Industry Exhibition

The industry exhibition is an important part of the conference experience and provides an opportunity to meet organisations and suppliers working across EMDR therapy, mental health and related areas.

The exhibition will be open during the main conference on Friday and Saturday, with catering breaks providing dedicated time to explore the displays, speak with exhibitors and connect with other attendees.

A list of participating exhibitors and sponsors will be published on the conference website closer to the event.

Internet Access

Complimentary wireless internet will be available throughout the conference venue. Connection details will be provided on-site.

Conference Recordings

Sessions presented as part of the main conference program on Friday and Saturday are intended to be recorded and made available for on-demand viewing after the conference. Please note that pre-conference activities are not included in the conference recordings.

Registered attendees will be notified by email when recordings become available, together with instructions for accessing the online conference platform.

Certificate of Attendance and CPD

Certificates of attendance will be issued electronically following the conference.

Further information about CPD hours and certificates will be provided as part of the conference program and attendee communications.

Photography may take place throughout the conference to capture the event and may be used by EMDRAA™ for purposes including:
